PMSM Inter-Turn Short Circuit Fault Detection Using the Fuzzy-Extended Kalman Filter in Electric Vehicles

To avoid damaging the motor and its surrounding equipment, detecting Inter-Turn Short Circuit (ITSC) faults in Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motors (PMSMs) applied electric vehicles is a crucial task. In this paper, detection of ITSC stator winding for PMSMs carried out by means Extended KALMAN Filter (EKF) algorithm combined with Fuzzy Logic Estimator (FLE). estimate parameters, including rotor position speed, EKF uses measured currents voltages beside resistance, which calculated advance using fuzzy logic fed to EKF. The change behaviors estimated parameters were then used detect short circuit PMSM. Using Matlab/Simulink, proposed FL-EKF was implemented tested on faulty PMSM controlled Field Oriented Control (FOC). observation perfect estimation resistance through simulation helps precisely failure, that demonstrates sensitivity robustness approach.
